A Time To Be Silent; A Time To Speak
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."
-Ecc. 3:1-

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

This seminar helped me in a lot of different ways. First, it gave me the assurance that I am not alone. The speakers were very good

Scott: Do you know if there’s any Colbie album there?

Me: Um, I’ll try to look over here.

Scott: I’ve been trying to look for it.

Me: It’s not here. If it’s not in the other side too, it’s probably checked out.

Scott: Is that so? Do you work here? What’s your name?

Me: (showed my volunteer ID)

(He asked other questions…)

Scott: It was nice meeting you Angeli.

It was a regular day, and like every Tuesday night, I volunteer at the library. He was heading But then someone went up to me and asked for help, which was a first. To be honest, I was totally weirded out by this guy because even though I said the CD wasn’t there, he still he asked for my name and other stuff. Not to be very rude, but I knew something’s not right about him just from the way he talks (like he’s on high). And the conversation ended there, with me hoping not to see him again…

Surprisingly, we met again just outside the library by the bench. There were two people talking by the bench. Me and my sister quietly sat down there, when suddenly, “Hello!“ It was him. (I was praying it wasn’t him) I did not recognize him at all (even forgot his name); he even introduced us to the girl he’s talking to: "They’re my library friends!” After the girl left, he started talking to us; I was just smiling and nodding the whole time. He talks a lot. Thankfully, my mom just came in time, (for the last time) I hope I won't see him again… :)

So one afternoon, my mom, my sister and I came out of Dollar Tree…you don’t say?! He was there. Yes. Ugh… It was my sister who saw him, then he saw her, so greetings again, hi, hello. He was on his bike talking to someone by the bench.  For some reason, I did not know why on earth did I even give my phone number?! (I was too kind, and I wasn’t thinking) and there it goes…

I don’t know where to begin!!!

First of all, I thank GOD, my Father, my Creator, Friend, and my everything, for loving me. :D I’ve never felt more loved in my 18 years of existence! Whoo! It is only with God’s love that a person can live, and I can testify to that. I think this is the best summer that I’ve ever had and I’ll always remember.Lately, God has been trying to challenge me, with all the negative thoughts that surround me, the worries that bother me, and the ignorance that hinders me from doing what He knows I can do. He has given me all sorts of tests: first, about my application for transfer to a university, whether I should do it or not; then, about my relationship with my friend, whether I should let him go or not; third, about myself, do I know who I am and what I’m doing? am I being myself? and most of all, about my relationship with God, do I have FAITH?

Are you comfortable in your own skin? In other words, do you recognize yourself as the treasure God made you, or are you constantly looking for approval and comparing yourself to a neighbor, co-worker or friend? Do you try to out-dress them or out-perform them? Are you always looking for ways to one-up others?

Friend, it’s time to let all of that go. Comparison is a distraction. Comparison is a thief. It steals your time, energy, focus and joy. You aren’t here to impress anybody; you don’t have to prove anything because you are God’s special workmanship. He created you with a purpose for a purpose. You are empowered and equipped to do everything He’s called you to do.

If you will choose to stay free from a spirit of competition and just run your own race in life, not only will you enjoy your life more, but you’ll see your gifts and talents come out to the full. You’ll see His blessing and favor in a greater way, and you’ll move forward into the life of victory He has in store!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free from competition. I choose to rest in You knowing that I am Your workmanship. Thank You for directing and ordering my steps. I bless and praise You today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Friend, we have to understand that even though life is not always fair, God is fair. He promises that He will work all things together for our good. I believe the key word in today’s verse is “together.” In other words, don’t just isolate one part of your life and say, “Well, this is not good.” “It’s not good that I got laid off.” “It’s not good that my child got sick.” “It’s not good that my relationship didn’t work out.” Yes, that’s true, but that’s just one part of your life. God can see the big picture. That disappointment is not the end. Your life doesn’t stop because of one setback. That is simply one piece of your puzzle. There is another piece coming to connect it all because God promises to work all things together for your good!

God knows how to make up for years you’ve lost in your life. No, you can’t relive your childhood, but God can make the rest of your life so rewarding, so fulfilling that you don’t even miss what didn’t happen in the past. You may feel like you wasted years in a relationship that didn’t work out. But God can bring somebody into your life so great, so fun, so friendly, so attractive that you don’t even remember the years that you’ve lost. You may have spent years on a job that turned out to be a dead end. You were working your way to the top; things didn’t turn out like you had hoped, and now it looks like there’s a big waste of time. You may not see how you could ever get to where you want to be, but don’t believe those lies. God knows how to make up for lost time. God can accelerate things. God can bring opportunities back across your path that you missed that will thrust you years ahead. It may not have happened the first time, but God will always give you another chance. He’ll make up for the lost time and bring you out better and stronger than ever before!
